All-on-4® is an implant-supported denture option (sometimes referred to as “retained restorations”) designed to replace full rows of missing teeth by utilizing a combination of dental implants and a custom denture prosthesis. This innovative “hybrid” restorative dentistry treatment can be an ideal way for many individuals to achieve results that feel and function like natural teeth with a denture that is much more secure along the gums and without the need to replace each missing tooth with a dental implant. Our experienced prosthodontist, Dr. Marisa Patt, offers this advanced alternative to traditional dentures for patients considering options to restore numerous missing teeth with results that can significantly improve dental function and smile aesthetics.

Am I a Candidate for All-on-4® Implant-Supported Dentures?

Ideal candidates for All-on-4® implant-supported dentures are typically individuals who need full teeth replacement for the upper dental arch, the lower dental arch, or both. This treatment option is often advisable for patients who want more stable and secure results when compared to a traditional denture, as well as for those who are not candidates for replacement of each missing tooth with a dental implant.

In some cases, patients may need more than four implants to successfully anchor the denture prosthesis. For those individuals, an All-on-6 procedure may be recommended. Dr. Patt will be able to determine your candidacy upon evaluation and talk with you about whether implant-supported dentures are the best option for your needs and goals.

What Does All-on-4® Treatment Involve?

State-of-the-art imaging and treatment planning technology will be utilized at the outset of the All-on-4® procedure to maximize the chances of successful, comfortable teeth restoration. Once Dr. Patt has identified the strongest areas to insert the implants, four dental implant posts per dental arch will be placed and anchored to the jawbone. Over the next several months, each implant should fuse to the jawbone and serve as a kind of artificial tooth root. A temporary denture can be placed atop the implant posts during this period, and the final custom denture will be securely fastened to the implant posts once the fusion process has been successfully completed. The denture prosthesis combined with the stability afforded by the dental implants should allow for results that feel, function, and appear like natural teeth.

All-on-4 FAQs

You might deal with swelling and discomfort as you recover from your surgery. Towards the beginning of the healing process, you’ll be on a soft food diet. Then, Dr. Patt will evaluate when you’ve healed enough to move to a more regular diet.

The implants have an angled installation, allowing for some cases of bone loss to qualify just fine for an All-on-4. When you go to your consultation, you can discuss your case with Dr. Patt, and she will determine the best steps forward for keeping your jaw and mouth healthy.

How Much Do All-on-4® Implant Dentures Cost?
